These last weeks we reviewed the Multiple Intelligences Theory. I heard about this theory many years ago when I was a child, and I must admit that it made me feel happy to know that although I wasn't good at math, I was good in so many other areas.
So, well, what is this about?
MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES THEORY
Howard Gardner, an American psychologist and educator, proposed the theory of multiple intelligences in 1983 in his book Frames of Mind: The Theory of Multiple Intelligences. According to his theory, there are eight different types of intelligences, which are:
Linguistic intelligence: This refers to the ability to use language effectively, both in writing and speaking. People with high linguistic intelligence are often skilled at using words to persuade, explain, and entertain.
Logical-mathematical intelligence: Refers to the ability to think logically, solve mathematical problems, and reason abstractly. People with high logical-mathematical intelligence are often skilled at analyzing complex data and creating theories.
Spatial intelligence: People with this kind of intelligence have the ability to visualize the world in different dimensions, understand the physical environment and picture different shapes with their minds. People with high spatial intelligence are often skilled at reading maps, creating artwork, and solving puzzles.
Musical intelligence: Ability to perceive, create, and express music. People with high musical intelligence are often skilled at playing instruments, singing, and composing music. They have a good understanding of music and even sounds as a physical phenomena.
Bodily-kinesthetic intelligence: Control and coordinate physical movements, as well as express oneself through physical activities. People with high bodily-kinesthetic intelligence are often skilled at sports, dance, and acting.
Interpersonal intelligence: This is the type of intelligence that refers to communicating effectively with others. Possessing this type of intelligence allows people to have a good ability to lead others, resolve conflicts and work in teams easily. These people are sociable and tend to be born leaders.
Intrapersonal intelligence: This is the ability to understand oneself, including one's own thoughts and emotions. The main characteristics of this kind of people are: they have high intuition, they are independent, and they have the ability to learn from daily activities and practice. People with high intrapersonal intelligence are often skilled at self-reflection, goal-setting, and personal development.
Naturalistic intelligence: This refers to the ability to observe and understand the natural world, including plants, animals, and ecosystems. People with high naturalistic intelligence are often skilled at identifying and categorizing natural phenomena, such as species of plants and animals.
For this class, the teacher gave us a test that we had to answer according to different questions that measured our intelligence in different areas. These were my results.
I personally don't think I'm that smart, but then again, I guess my intelligence is directly related to how clueless I am (I uploaded this post days after the deadline, oops).
